One Truck Accident on I-70 in Cooper County

MoDOT employees and contractors worked round-the-clock to construct temporary bridge supports to stabilize the Woodland School Road overpass near the 110-mile marker.  The bridge was struck yesterday morning by a tractor-trailer. 

The truck sheared off one of two columns supporting the bridge and broke the second column, causing the bridge to become unstable over the westbound lanes.
 
The westbound driving lane will remain closed for several weeks while repairs are made to the bridge.
 he speed limit has been reduced in the area and motorists are encouraged to slow down and follow the signing.  Both eastbound lanes remain open.
